It is a legal requirement in the UK that all sales of alcohol conducted on licensed premises must be authorised by a personal licence holder. In order to apply for a personal licence, you must hold an accredited qualification. Our HABC Level 2 Personal Licence course is accepted by all councils in England and Wales. Licensed premises must have an allocated personal licence holder, known as the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS). The DPS must authorise every sale of alcohol.

Did you know that we're one of the only training organisation in the UK offering on-the-day results for the Personal Licence qualification. Upgrade to our Fast Track package which gives you the option of not having to wait the standard 10-15 working days for your results, instead, you can receive your results on the same day!

Upon booking the course you will receive a link to the course training resources via email. Resources include a PowerPoint presentation, a mock exam, a handbook, and a workbook. You must go through these starting with the 'READ ME' document and study the content before your course date. Frequently Asked Questions

The Level 2 Award for Personal License Holders also known as the personal license is a license issued by a UK council to an individual who has completed the necessary training to ensure they hold all the skills and knowledge required to function effectively while maintaining legal safety standards when working in places such as retail, hospitality or special event industries where the sale of alcohol is taking place.

A Premises License is the license granted by a Licensing Authority to permit licensable activities, such as the sale of alcohol, to take place on-premises. Premises do not have to be a physical building and a Premises License can be granted for moveable structures such as beer tents and burger vans.

Examples of licensed premises can be found below:

* Restaurants * Supermarkets * Hotels * Pubs * Off Licences * Bars * Convenience stores * Nightclubs, sports clubs, social clubs * Premises for entertainment activities * Casinos * All other licensed establishments

The application for a Premises Licence is made to the Local Authority in the area where the venue will operate, please contact the local authority for more information as application processes may vary in different area's.

After you have passed the Personal License training and you receive your certificate from us, you'll need to apply for your personal license at the local council in your city.

You will be required to pay a £37 application fee to your local council. The council will then conduct a complete background check, after checking your qualifications and completing the mandatory background check, the licensing authority will send your Personal License to you.

Your exam will be conducted using an online examination tool, you will need to show your ID to the invigilator through your webcam prior to the examination. The exam will be invigilated by your trainer. All other exam conditions apply as per Hurak T&C.

If you are unsuccessful in passing the exam at the end of this course, you do not have to sit the training again and will only need to retake the exam, you can book a resit by calling our office line and speaking to a member of staff.

This qualification is valid indefinitely, that means you will never have to do this course again.

Yes you can, simply go to the Jobcentre and get them to book the course on your behalf or alternatively, book the course yourself and use the receipt we give you to have the funds reimbursed back to you by the Jobcentre.

A Personal Licence is required by anyone authorising the sale of alcohol from a Licensed Premises. All Licensed Premises must have an allocated Personal Licence Holder, known as the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS). By law, the DPS must authorise every sale of alcohol otherwise selling alcohol can lead to various penalties, including a fine of £20,000 and up to six months of prison time.

Not everyone who makes a sale has to hold a Personal Licence, as long as a Personal Licence Holder has authorised the sale, however it is advisable to have more than one Personal License holder at any given time in cases of emergencies because if a personal license holder is unavailable or becomes sick the business will have to stop sales or worse, face legal consequences for not following the law.

At the end of the one-day training course, you have the option of sitting the standard paper-based exam where results and certificate will be generated within 10-15 working days or you can choose our same-day result service for faster turn-around time, individuals that choose the same-day result service will sit the exam in digital format, hence results will be generated on the same day followed by certificates being ready in just 3-5 working days.

Candidates are required to provide just one photographic identity document, common examples of these are:

- Passport of any nationality - Driving licence photocard of any nationality - Residence permit of any nationality - Valid EU photo ID card

If you don't have any of the above, please contact our office and speak to a member of staff for alternatives.
